Our Trip to Washington for David's Blessing

We went to Washington for a week so we could be there for David's blessing, but everyday was filled with fun. So I will try to recap.

Two of my favorite things to do, walk my grandson and talk to my daughter.

We took a drive to the seaside and marveled at everything David did!
So cute!
On Saturday, the base was having an airshow.  We got there SUPER early and got a personalized tour of the C-17.  This particular one was brand new from Long Beach.

One of it's main purposes is to bring service men and women who have been hurt to an area where they can get the attention needed. This medic was demonstrating and educating us on how they load them, take care of them and transport them.
Here's Daniel's grandpa in the pilot seat!
 More from the airshow...

( It was so hard to get a picture of the Thunderbirds.)

David took everything in stride and we all had a fantastic, beautiful day!!
Sunday was the blessing day.
Daniel gave a wonderful blessing and we are SO thankful that Rich and I could be there for it.

This was the blessing outfit that Daniel actually wore when he was blessed.  I think in one more week it probably wouldn't have fit David though!
These pictures were taken just right outside their kitchen door!  Can you believe that!!

Daniel and Julie with Terry and Lisa Tucker (and David of course!).
Rich and I with them.
Four generation picture with Ed, Terry, Daniel and David.
Ryan, Tracy and Lavar Campbell with them.
They were so sweet to drive out from Salt Lake for the blessing.  They LOVE Julie and Daniel!
All us women with the star of the day!
Here's David no doubt telling Daniel thank you for such a wonderful blessing,

and here's Daniel saying, "you're welcome my sweet son."
.
On Monday, we toured an airplane museum that was way cool!
Here's a picture of The Concorde.  We actually got to go inside it too.

Here's a picture of a retired AirForce I.

And here's a picture of Julie and David sitting in his first fighter jet!

Grandpa Tucker likes it too!
On our last day, we drove to Bremerton where we toured another museum only this one was on aircraft carriers and submarines.  Then we took the ferry over to Seattle before dad and I had to say goodbye.

We said good bye to all.
Daniel was leaving early in the morning for his first deployment assignment.  We wish him well and will pray for him every day.  We know he will do well with his flying.  The Airforce is lucky to have him!
Here are a few last pictures of our cute little David.
We think he grew during the week we were there!
Don't you??

OH!!!  And I almost forgot!!  He found his thumb!!!
Thanks Juile and Daniel for having us and letting us share in such an important time in all of your lives!
We LOVE YOU!!!

4th of July 2012

Rich and I spent 4th of July at home and had a great holiday!  I love our ward's pancake breakfast and flag raising ceremony.  It just seems to start the day off right.  ALTHOUGH....I found this amusing...
For those of you who don't know, I have started drinking a green smoothie everyday since last November when I got a Blendtec blender for my birthday.  I've attended two classes of the greensmoothiegirl.com, and read her book along with a couple others that support these drinks.  SO,on the morning of the pancake breakfast, I made my green smoothie at home and took it with me.  A doctor in our ward came over and asked me what was in it, then one of the nurses in our ward did too, along with a few other interested people.  After drinking my smoothie, I really wasn't hungry for the food provided so I didn't eat anything else but a few bites of the pancake.  I had to take a quick trip to Target and when I got home, I found Richard all sprawled out on the couch, SNORING!!!  This was at 10am!!  Then I ran over to my friend's house (they were at the breakfast too) and found her 19yr. old son on THEIR couch totally zonked out and her husband on the other couch, unable to move and nearly asleep!!  Hummm, isn't a breakfast supposed to energize you for the day??  What do YOU think about that??
We had some friends over in the afternoon for swimming and then went over to the university for a great celebration.  We happened to sit right in front of a women wearing her army fatigues and Rich glanced at her name.  We realized it was Karen's friend, Jenna, from high school who went to West Point and has been with Army Intelligence.  She had JUST gotten home from Iraq the night before.  She told us a little about the place Daniel will be going to in a couple weeks and said it was a good base in Kazakhstan.  Is that the right place, Daniel? I LOVED how so many people stopped to shake her hand and thank her for her service! Anyway, one of the reasons I love going to the university on 4th of July is because it really reminds me of the true meaning of this holiday.  Thank you to all the people who help us live in a safe country!!  Especially to you, Daniel, for your service and dedication.  We pray for your safety and hope this first tour of duty will be okay for you.
Here's a few pictures from the day.

(I wonder if my pictures would turn out better with a better camera.)

Sailing in June

We put the boat in the water in Long Beach for the month and it has given us the chance to go sailing more often.
Denise and Phil went with us as we toured the L.A. harbor and viewed the U.S. Iowa that recently arrived there.  They will be turning it into a museum soon and we look forward to going through it then.

Tom and Rosemary Bell joined us for a sail out to see the sea lions and then over to the Queen Mary.
We all had a great time and saw lots of sites which I'm hoping Rose will put on her blog because I KNOW she took better and more pictures!  We saw dolphins also, which is really rare to see them so close in.

A fun time had by all!  We hope to do it again soon and I'll try to take more pictures!
